Modern Korean aesthetics reinterpreted with photo spots and hands-on programs
First installation at Cheonan Prugio Lakeside
Daewoo Engineering & Construction announced Thursday it will introduce unique photo spots and hands-on programs in the landscaped areas of its residential complexes to promote everyday relaxation for residents and boost residential satisfaction.
The "Prugio Pop-up Garden" is a new experiential residential program developed as part of the company's premium residential service, PRUS+, designed to help residents enjoy the landscaping within their complexes.
The spaces reflect Prugio's new design direction, "Modern Koreaness," reinterpreting familiar Korean colors, symbols and sensibilities through contemporary forms and graphics woven into the complex's landscaping.
The initiative was developed in collaboration with media art group Everyware, which drew about 3 million visitors last winter with a large-scale artwork at Seoul Light Gwanghwamun. Known for rendering traditional motifs as modern pixel art, Everyware brought iconic Korean symbols — including dancheong (traditional decorative coloring), the Irworobongdo (a sun, moon and five peaks painting) and cheongsa chorong (blue silk lanterns) — to life as approachable, visually striking photo spots within the Prugio complex.
Cheonan Prugio Lakeside was selected as the first complex to receive the installation, with the structures completed in September. From Saturday to Monday, Daewoo E&C held a participatory gardening class for residents of the complex, where they used "Tilelit" — the modular tile material used in the installations — to make their own planters and pot plants. Additional activities included making wishes at an Irworobongdo wish wall and an SNS photo-sharing event.
The Prugio Pop-up Garden is designed not as a permanent fixture at any single complex, but as a rotating program — installed for a set period, then dismantled and moved to other Prugio complexes for reuse.
"Prugio is continually reimagining the landscaping and everyday experiences of its complexes in its own way, rooted in the philosophy of 'The Natural Nobility,'" a Daewoo E&C official said. "We plan to expand the program so that residents across various complexes can enjoy a differentiated residential experience."
Meanwhile, Daewoo E&C is also expanding its "Prugio Garden Concert" series and continues to plan events aimed at enhancing residential satisfaction for its residents.
