Gwangyang completes steel observation structure at Gubongsan summit, open during daytime hours
The "Panorama Walk," a steel observation structure at the summit of Gubongsan (473 meters above sea level) in Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province, has been completed and will open to the public Friday.
The structure, built atop Gubongsan, is an experiential installation that guides visitors along a silver spiral form, offering panoramic views of Gwangyang Bay, the Yi Sun-sin Bridge, the Yeosu industrial complex, Suncheon, Posco's Gwangyang steelworks, Gwangyang Port's container terminal, and — across the Seomjin River — South Gyeongsang Province's Hadong and Namhae-gun.
The Panorama Walk is the work of internationally recognized artist Manuel Monteserin. Conceived around the themes of light, steel, industry and nature in Gwangyang, the silver curved structure reveals shifting compositions of sea, city and sky with each step along its path.
The facility will be open free of charge from Friday — Hangul Day — through Nov. 8, during daytime hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors must make reservations through the "MY Gwangyang" app.
To mark the completion of the observation deck, a special exhibition titled "Panorama Walk: The Infinite Light" is also on display at the Posco Art Museum inside the Gwangyang steelworks.
