Group launches AI TF in June, plans to cultivate 'AI champions' in second half
Kyowon Group is positioning AI as the core growth engine of its education business and accelerating a company-wide AI transformation, or AX.
According to Kyowon Group on Thursday, Chairman Jang Pyung-soon has identified AI as a key growth strategy for the education business this year and said the company must build AI-ready education services and work systems.
Jang envisions combining the extensive learning data accumulated by Kumon and Bbalgan Pen with AI technology to gain a more precise understanding of each student's learning characteristics and deliver personalized learning management and counseling services.
To that end, the group launched a company-wide AI TF in June. The task force is responsible for mapping out the group's overall AI transformation strategy and identifying AI application tasks across its business and operational units.
The group is currently providing AI skills training for employees and subsidizing subscriptions to AI services needed for their work. It is focused on creating an environment where staff can use AI in their day-to-day tasks and finding application methods suited to each job function.
In the education business, integrating existing learning data with AI technology is a central challenge. Because each student's level, pace and comprehension differ, the company sees value in analyzing individual learning patterns using accumulated data to sharpen the precision of its management. Kyowon Group plans to advance its learning management and counseling services on the basis of that data.
In the second half of this year, the group plans to select "AI champions" to lead AI transformation within each organization and run a dedicated development program. AI champions will serve as hands-on leaders who identify and execute AI application tasks within their teams and spread suitable usage models to other members.
Kyowon Group also plans to establish a system for identifying successful AI use cases and sharing them across the entire company. It is also reviewing the introduction of support measures and incentives to encourage voluntary employee participation.
Over the medium to long term, the group aims to build an organizational culture in which employees themselves identify and carry out AI application tasks. The focus goes beyond simply adopting AI tools — it is on embedding AI into actual work practices and overall business operations.
"The ultimate goal of the group's AX is not to treat AI adoption as a one-off task, but to naturally internalize it into the way our people work," a Kyowon Group official said. "We will lay the groundwork for employees to identify and execute AX tasks on their own, with AI champions at the center."
