Canola in spring, sunflowers in summer — and now cosmos to mark the autumn season
Geumcheon-gu said cosmos flowers planted along a roughly 3,500-square-meter stretch (310 meters long) of the Anyangcheon riverbank are now in full bloom and will remain on display through the end of October.
The cosmos path runs along the Cheolsan Bridge section of the Anyangcheon. Planted in early July, the flowers have since painted the 310-meter corridor in shades of pink. The riverside setting, combined with a walking trail, makes it an ideal spot to take in the sights of autumn.
Visitors can reach the cosmos display by entering the Anyangcheon from Geumcheon-gu Office Station and following the walking path toward Cheolsan Bridge.
This year, the district developed a "rural-theme scenic path" along the Anyangcheon to offer residents a different landscape with each season. The project involves planting seasonal crops across a 7,000-square-meter riverside bank stretching from Doksan Pedestrian Bridge to Cheolsan Bridge, creating a rotating series of natural scenes from spring through autumn.
In spring, the district planted a canola flower display covering about 3,500 square meters near Cheolsan Bridge, while sunflowers were sown around the Doksan Pedestrian Bridge area in summer. The cosmos planting along the Cheolsan Bridge section now continues the seasonal rotation into autumn.
Earlier, both the spring canola and summer sunflower sections drew steady foot traffic from local residents. The canola area featured a dedicated photo zone, while the sunflower stretch became a popular spot for walkers and cyclists.
The district plans to maintain the Anyangcheon rural-theme scenic path as a space where city residents can experience the changing seasons, and to develop it as an outdoor learning environment where children can engage with nature up close.
"We wanted residents who visit the Anyangcheon to enjoy a landscape that changes with every season," Geumcheon-gu District Mayor Choi Ki-chan said. "We hope you'll stroll through the cosmos with family and friends and feel the deepening of autumn."
