The North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education said Wednesday it is accepting public applications through Oct. 16 for 58 seats on a citizen panel that will monitor and evaluate the implementation of campaign pledges made by the 19th superintendent under the sixth elected term.
Applicants must be at least 19 years old and registered as residents of North Gyeongsang Province as of the announcement date. To ensure broad regional representation, seats will be allocated in proportion to the population of each of the province's 22 cities and counties, with at least one person selected from each area.
Residents wishing to apply should consult the public notice posted on the education office's website or those of its affiliated institutions, complete the application form, and submit it by email before the deadline.
Selection will proceed through a review of applications. If applicants in a given area exceed the allocated seats, final candidates will be chosen by public lottery. Results will be communicated individually to those selected and also posted on the website.
Panel members, once appointed, will serve from the date of appointment through June 30, 2030. Their duties will include evaluating implementation and revision plans for pledged projects, assessing progress and fulfillment status, and recommending solutions to problems that arise in carrying out those projects.
Further details about the recruitment process are available from the campaign pledge project coordinator at the education office's planning and budget division.
North Gyeongsang Superintendent of Education Im Jong-sik urged residents to take an active interest and participate, saying the panel would help ensure that campaign pledges — "a precious promise to the people of the province" — are carried out appropriately and effectively.
