Comedian Kim Won-hyo is set to reveal that he earned between 4 million and 5 million won ($3,720) a month working as a waiter before his debut.
Kim will appear on MBC variety program "Radio Star," airing Wednesday, alongside Choi Kang-hee, Oh Man-seok and Yang Chi-seung.
On the show, Kim discloses that his base monthly salary as a waiter before becoming a comedian was about 500,000 won.
To boost his earnings, he began soliciting customers directly, receiving about 20,000 won per group and bringing in an average of around 10 groups a day. As a result, his monthly income grew to between 4 million and 5 million won.
Kim also reveals that his sales ability earned him recognition, leading to scout offers from other establishments at higher pay.
He adds that habits from his waiter days have stayed with him.
Kim explains that the pressure to serve customers quickly left him with a habit of cutting fruit fast rather than carefully — a skill he demonstrates on the show by rapidly preparing apples, melons and pineapples. He also shows off his technique for flicking business cards.
