Civic participation linked to community giving
Donations to be delivered after festival closes
Korea Zinc's Onsan smelter announced Wednesday that it will run a civic participation-based donation program at the Ulsan Industrial Festival, which runs Thursday through Sunday, under the theme "A thermometer of love filled by citizens' cheers — Korea Zinc joins in."
The company said the program was designed to turn each festival visitor's encouragement and participation into tangible community giving.
At the festival venue, visitors will write personal messages of support for Ulsan and the local community, and as participation accumulates, a "thermometer of love" display on site will fill up. After the festival, Korea Zinc will donate a separate sum through the Ulsan Community Chest of Korea to organizations in the Ulsan area in need of support.
Beyond a one-time contribution, Korea Zinc plans to channel donations across four areas under its corporate social responsibility strategy, KZ Clover: charitable giving and volunteering under "Together, Ulsan"; talent development under "Dreaming Ulsan"; arts and culture under "Joyful Ulsan"; and eco-friendly initiatives under "Coexisting Ulsan." Through this framework, the company aims to sustain meaningful support for vulnerable groups, talent development, expanded access to arts and culture, and preservation of the local environment and biodiversity.
"The meaning of this program lies in each citizen's message of encouragement coming together to fill the thermometer of love, which then becomes warm giving for the Ulsan community," an Onsan smelter official said. "We hope many citizens will enjoy the Ulsan Industrial Festival and join in the spirit of sharing. We will continue to expand social contribution activities that engage with the community and allow citizens to participate directly."
Meanwhile, Korea Zinc's Onsan smelter recently visited Suyeon Rehabilitation Center, a facility for children with severe disabilities in Ulsan and Ulju-gun, conducting a joint public-private volunteer activity for the third quarter as part of its ongoing efforts to fulfill its corporate social responsibilities.
