City plans to visit all 44 neighborhoods after Ilsan 1 and 2-dong kickoff

Mayor Min Kyung-sun vows outreach administration that goes directly to residents

Goyang Special City held its "2026 Open Resident Communication Empathy Talk" in Ilsan 1-dong and Ilsan 2-dong on Tuesday, with Mayor Min Kyung-sun visiting both neighborhoods in succession to hear residents' concerns.

The forum, a signature initiative of the ninth elected city administration, is designed to gather not only pre-submitted proposals but also on-the-spot opinions from the floor. Mayor Min personally responds to pre-registered suggestions already reviewed by the relevant city departments, after which residents may ask questions freely in an open discussion format.

Mayor Min stayed on after the scheduled program at both neighborhood meetings to hear additional comments from residents until the very end.

At the Ilsan 1-dong session, pre-submitted proposals covered safety and community governance issues — including widening the sidewalk at the rear gate of Hyeonsan Middle School, changing the appointment process for neighborhood self-governance committee members, and installing security cameras in a vacant-house cluster in District 6. The Safety and Construction Division, the Community Self-Governance Division and the Smart City Division provided responses based on their reviews.

During the open floor session, residents raised additional issues, including a proposal related to the lapse of a district-unit planning zone around 605-98 Ilsan-dong. After the meeting, Mayor Min visited the site in person to assess conditions on the ground.

At the Ilsan 2-dong session, pre-submitted requests included installing fitness equipment in an unused space in the Sandeul Maeul neighborhood, relocating and setting up outdoor shade structures, and starting Bus No. 078 service earlier in the morning. Mayor Min announced the city's action plans based on reviews by the Industrial Hygiene Division, the Safety and Construction Division, the Disaster Response Office and the Bus Policy Division.

At both sessions, residents' additional comments extended the meetings beyond their scheduled time. The city said it would forward all newly raised opinions to the relevant departments to ensure nothing is overlooked.

"Moving the mayor's office to the first floor was about getting closer to residents and lowering the threshold for communication," Mayor Min said. "I will deliver an outreach administration that goes directly to the people."

Goyang Special City plans to continue the "2026 Open Resident Communication Empathy Talk" series by visiting all 44 neighborhoods across the city in sequence, incorporating residents' voices into municipal policy.
