Yeongdeok-gun in North Gyeongsang Province said Tuesday that four villages in Yeongdeok-eup and Yeonghae-myeon submitted applications to host a correctional facility being pursued by the Ministry of Justice, completing a candidate site intake process covering nine townships.

The county plans to submit the selected candidate sites to the Ministry of Justice by Monday, after which it will conduct additional reviews and gather residents' opinions before responding to the ministry's formal bidding process for the facility.

The county is also considering allocating additional project funding on an annual basis as an incentive to whichever township is ultimately chosen as the facility site, in line with its support plan for selected candidates.

"We will proceed carefully, taking a comprehensive look at our own selection committee process, local conditions and balanced development between the northern and southern parts of the county, in line with the Ministry of Justice's bidding schedule," a Yeongdeok-gun official said.
