Gangnam-gu will operate the "2026 Yangjaecheon Outdoor Mini Gallery" along the Yangjaecheon waterfront cultural rest area and at Milmiri Bridge from Thursday through Oct. 31.

Small display cases will be installed at various points along the walking path, allowing visitors to view artworks in a natural setting without having to visit a dedicated gallery.

This year's exhibition is themed "An Art Museum in Everyday Life." Wooden posts standing about 120 centimeters tall will be erected along the Yangjaecheon walking path, each topped with a mini display case measuring 30 to 37 centimeters wide and 30 to 45 centimeters tall. About 25 cases in total will be placed at eye level, effectively turning the walking path itself into a small outdoor exhibition space.

The exhibition will feature works from major Gangnam-gu shows held this year, alongside pieces by eight emerging artist award winners and works from local galleries. By bringing together emerging and established artists as well as gallery works in a single outdoor setting, the program aims to give residents broader access to diverse art while offering artists and galleries a new venue to connect with the public.

Because Yangjaecheon — rather than an indoor gallery — serves as the backdrop, visitors can enjoy the artworks alongside the natural scenery. Works placed throughout the path can be encountered naturally while strolling or resting between the waterfront cultural rest area and Milmiri Bridge. The stream's changing seasonal landscape adds a distinctive dimension to the outdoor exhibition experience.

"We set up the outdoor mini gallery so that people can naturally encounter artworks and enjoy art while taking their everyday walks along Yangjaecheon," Gangnam-gu District Mayor Kim Hyun-ki said. "We will continue to introduce a variety of content that brings art and culture closer to daily life."
