Applications accepted through Oct. 18 on carrier's hiring site
Successful candidates to join before year-end
Eastar Jet announced Tuesday it will hold an open recruitment drive for trainee first officers.
The hiring round is tied to the airline's fleet expansion and route growth, with the number of positions running into double digits.
The selection process consists of four stages: a document screening, written and practical examinations, a working-level interview and an executive interview.
Applicants must hold a commercial pilot license along with a valid Aviation English Proficiency Test (EPTA) certificate, a Class 1 aviation medical certificate and an aeronautical radio operator license. They must also meet minimum flight-hour requirements and hold a qualifying score on a recognized English proficiency test.
Applications open Tuesday at 2 p.m. and will be accepted through Oct. 18 on the Eastar Jet recruitment website. Successful candidates are expected to join the company before the end of the year.
"We plan to conduct every stage of the selection process rigorously to identify outstanding first officers with strong safety awareness and competence," an Eastar Jet official said. "Even after joining, we will ensure the highest standards of safe operations through systematic training."
Eastar Jet added four Boeing next-generation B737-8 aircraft to its fleet in August and September, bringing its total to 24 planes. The additions lowered the average fleet age to the mid-seven-year range, the lowest among domestic carriers, with the B737-8 now accounting for about 58 percent of the total fleet.
Meanwhile, Eastar Jet is broadening its customer reach through a range of marketing activities, including a joint campaign with NMIXX, a six-member girl group under JYP Entertainment. The airline has added member photos to boarding passes, will begin playing the group's voices and music on board starting Oct. 20, and plans to launch a NMIXX-themed aircraft the following month.
