The KT Wiz have claimed the KBO League regular-season title for the first time in five years and will now chase their second Korean Series championship.
KT defeated the Lotte Giants 9-0 at home at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on Monday, powered by three home runs, in the 2026 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League.
The victory lifted KT to a season record of 86 wins, 49 losses and 5 draws for a winning percentage of .637, clinching the regular-season top spot regardless of remaining results. The second-place Samsung Lions, who lost Monday, sit 4.5 games back at 82 wins, 54 losses and 3 draws (.603).
KT spent much of the first half of the season hovering between second and third place before moving into sole first place on Aug. 1. Samsung briefly overtook them in late August, but KT reclaimed the lead on Sept. 10 and rode a late-season surge to become the first team to secure the regular-season title.
It is KT's first regular-season title since 2021. That year, the club finished level with Samsung at 76 wins, 59 losses and 9 draws (.563) before winning an unprecedented tiebreaker game to advance directly to the Korean Series.
KT, which joined the KBO League as its 10th franchise in 2015, will again advance directly to the Korean Series — a best-of-seven championship.
