Seoul to hold 'Jamsu Bridge Chicken Day' on Oct. 25
About 2,000 participants to be served; vendors sought through Wednesday
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced Monday that it will hold "Jamsu Bridge Chicken Day" on Oct. 25, the final day of the car-free Jamsu Bridge Walking Festival.
The event is a co-prosperity program centered on chicken — one of the Han River's most iconic street foods — bringing together franchise brands and small independent businesses.
A roughly 400-meter "chicken table" will be set up on Jamsu Bridge that day, where participating vendors can sell and promote their own chicken dishes to citizens and tourists. Vendors will have access to about 2,000 seated participants as well as general festival visitors. There is no booth fee, though vendors must cover the cost of reusable container use. Deep fryers that produce oil vapor are not permitted on site.
A range of citizen participation programs will also run under the theme "Everything Chicken," including a "taste expert" event where visitors can introduce and recommend their own chicken recipes.
The city is accepting applications from franchise operators and small-business owners wishing to take part in Jamsu Bridge Chicken Day through Wednesday. Details are available on the official Jamsu Bridge Walking Festival website.
Applicants must hold a valid food service business registration and carry product liability insurance. Applications are accepted by email, with full details posted on the festival's official website. The city plans to hold a vendor briefing on Thursday before selecting final participants. This year's festival has been running every Sunday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. around Jamsu Bridge and Banpo Han River Park since Sept. 6.
"We have prepared a special program for the last Walking Festival to be held on Jamsu Bridge before it becomes fully pedestrianized in 2027," said Park Jin-young, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Future Han River Bureau. "We hope many businesses in the dining industry will take an interest and join us in this opportunity to grow together on Jamsu Bridge."
