A wave of hacking-related data breaches is spreading through South Korea's financial sector, with Welcome Savings Bank estimating that information on up to 2,200 corporate customers may have been compromised.

Welcome Savings Bank discovered the cyberattack Saturday during a routine internal security check and reported the incident to regulators, according to Yonhap.

The breach is estimated to have exposed up to 2,200 records containing corporate customer data, including company names, contact persons' names, email addresses and phone numbers.

The bank said it is working to determine the exact cause of the breach and the full extent of the damage.
