Daegu is conducting its 2026 architectural administration evaluation to encourage building policy operations that reflect local characteristics and strengthen citizen-centered administrative practices.

According to the city Sunday, the evaluation covers nine districts and counties within Daegu as well as the Daegu-North Gyeongsang Free Economic Zone Authority. The review and assessment will run from October through November.

This year's evaluation is guided by three core principles: improving public trust through professional and transparent administration, creating a safe and pleasant built environment, and advancing proactive, public-sector-led administrative modernization.

Based on those principles, the assessment is divided into three categories — complaint-handling reliability, safety, environment and welfare, and architectural administration advancement.

The evaluation framework comprises 39 items and 52 indicators, providing a comprehensive review of architectural administration overall.

A new "structural monitoring" indicator has also been added compared with last year's evaluation, strengthening the safety category and allowing the city to respond proactively to a shifting policy environment.

Based on the results, the city plans to select three outstanding institutions and seven meritorious individuals in late December and present them with commendations from the Daegu mayor.

Kim Byung-hwan, head of Daegu's Architecture and Housing Bureau, said the evaluation places particular emphasis on assessing policy operations suited to the characteristics of each district and county. "Through this architectural administration evaluation, we will encourage each local government to operate and implement building policies that take into account its own distinct characteristics," he said.
