Seongju-gun in North Gyeongsang Province held a major work-plan briefing for 2027 on Friday at the county office's cultural lecture room, laying out the policy direction and key priorities for the ninth elected administration.
The briefing was organized to review the county's achievements in 2026, assess domestic and international policy and economic conditions, translate campaign pledges and pending issues into concrete action plans, and identify new initiatives for 2027.
Seongju-gun said it will concentrate its administrative resources next year on seven priority areas, including building an industrial and economic foundation for future growth, transforming agriculture to create a prosperous farming community, and strengthening education and population vitality for future generations.
Key tasks include expanding industrial and economic infrastructure through the Seongju No. 3 General Industrial Complex and a regional transportation network, advancing AI-based smart farming and upgrading the oriental melon industry, and laying the groundwork for agricultural gross income of 1 trillion won ($736 million).
The county also discussed plans to support youth and foreign residents in settling locally, address population decline, expand public rental housing and lifestyle and environmental infrastructure, and secure national and provincial funding for new projects in response to policy shifts by the central government and North Gyeongsang Province.
The county said it will embed the ninth administration's core governing philosophy — "finding ways to make things work rather than reasons they cannot" — across all areas of county administration, and shift its public services from a processing-focused model to a problem-solving one through the full operation of its "Yes, We Can! Civil Affairs Office."
"We will respond swiftly to policy changes from the central government and North Gyeongsang Province, identify new projects suited to Seongju's conditions and strengths, and proactively secure the necessary funding so that residents can feel Seongju's transformation and progress in their daily lives," Seongju-gun County Chief Jeon Hwa-sik said.
