Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation (SH) presented its public housing policies tailored to every stage of life — from youth and newlyweds to the elderly — at Herald Money Festa 2026. Visitors showed strong interest in the range of residential support programs designed to help citizens struggling to secure stable housing amid high living costs.

SH, which relaunched under a new name in July last year, is pursuing not only housing supply and residential welfare projects but also large-scale urban development across Seoul. The corporation is involved in mixed-use development projects including Han River development and the Yongsan International Business District, while also transforming the Magok district in southwestern Seoul — already a hub for advanced industries — into a base for emerging technology sectors such as AI and R&D.

In the residential sphere, SH is focused on expanding a housing ladder that supports citizens at each stage of life. Programs under development include "Baronaezip," aimed at stabilizing housing for young people; "The Dream House+," an integrated youth housing brand; "Mirinaezip," targeting newlyweds; "Seoul-type Senior Housing," which links accommodation for older residents with meal and health care services; and a multigenerational housing model designed for families of three generations to live together.

SH's flagship public rental program, long-term jeonse housing, continues to expand its supply. The program offers public rental units to Seoul residents without homes at prices below the surrounding market rate, with stable long-term tenancy as its defining feature.

SH is also scaling up Mirinaezip — its long-term jeonse housing program for newlyweds. Mirinaezip provides housing to newlywed and soon-to-be-married couples without homes, and offers benefits such as extended tenancy or residential relocation assistance when a child is born after move-in.

SH also supplies "Youth Safe Housing" for young people and newlyweds. The program is a Seoul Metropolitan Government policy initiative that provides public rental and publicly supported private rental units in transit-oriented areas near major roads with convenient public transport access. SH handles the public rental portion, while private operators manage the publicly supported private rental units. Rents for SH's public rental units are set at 30 to 70 percent of the surrounding market rate. The second round of Youth Safe Housing public rental recruitment, announced in July, offered a total of 581 units — 349 new and 232 re-listed.

At the SH booth Saturday, a steady stream of visitors asked about application schedules and how to apply for public housing. The most common question was where to find pre-sale and move-in recruitment announcements. Booth staff directed visitors to the relevant SH pre-sale department phone numbers, the corporation's official YouTube channel and the websites where recruitment notices are posted.

A university student in her 20s who gave only her surname, Park, said she had visited the booth out of interest in public housing. "I missed the SH Youth Safe Housing recruitment that ran over the summer — I didn't know where the notices were posted back then," she said. "This time I subscribed to SH's YouTube channel, and I plan to check regularly for new recruitment announcements."
