Ecopro announced Thursday that it carried out a round of presidential-level promotions and reassignments on Wednesday, aimed at strengthening external partnerships and securing new growth engines through business diversification as the group's profile continues to rise.

The company conducted this year's executive reshuffle two months earlier than usual. Ecopro said the move was intended to give the newly designated chief executives a greater sense of responsibility by having them personally draw up and execute next year's business plans.

Ecopro promoted Choi Sang-un, head of the group's management support division, and Park Jong-hwan, chief executive of Ecopro EM, to president. Both were simultaneously designated as chief executives — Choi at Ecopro and Park at Ecopro HN.

Choi was recognized for overseeing the company's core operational functions and for laying a solid foundation for organizational stability and sustainable growth.

Park, a battery specialist with expertise in cathode materials for secondary batteries, was promoted for his role in building out mass production systems, including the establishment of new cathode material factories. As the new head of Ecopro HN, he plans to focus on strengthening the company's semiconductor materials capabilities and enhancing its competitiveness in secondary battery material manufacturing.

The reshuffle also included reassignments among chief executives across group affiliates. Song Ho-jun, previously Ecopro's chief executive, was designated to lead Ecopro BM. Under Song, Ecopro BM plans to strengthen its role as an intermediate holding company overseeing secondary battery materials. The company also intends to complete management systems at overseas subsidiaries in Hungary and Canada, and to bolster future growth through investment in the BNSI smelter in Indonesia.

Song will concurrently serve as chief executive of Ecopro EM, an Ecopro BM subsidiary, with the aim of generating synergies between the two companies.

Kim Jang-woo, currently Ecopro BM's managing representative, will serve as co-chief executive of Ecopro alongside Choi at the holding company level. Kim will oversee the group's financial and management operations.

The newly designated chief executives are expected to be formally appointed following approval by each company's board of directors and shareholders meeting.

Meanwhile, Ecopro Group is pressing ahead with aggressive investment to navigate a rapidly shifting market environment and pursue sustainable growth. Through its investment in the BNSI (Bahodopi Nickel Smelting Indonesia) smelter in Indonesia, the group is securing enough nickel to supply about 1.5 million electric vehicles.
