Yun Jeong-guk, chief of the Seongnam Cultural Foundation, said the 2026 Seongnam TechArt Festival aims to go beyond simply showcasing technology and instead offer a new cultural experience where technology, art, people and the city converge. "We will connect Pangyo's innovative technology with Seongnam's cultural and artistic strengths to build a differentiated TechArt festival brand unique to Seongnam," he said.

The 2026 Seongnam TechArt Festival, held under the slogan "AI Innovation City Seongnam, Play the Future," will run from Nov. 23 to Nov. 25 across the city, with venues including Pangyo Station Plaza, the Tancheon stream, Seongnam Arts Center and Seongnam Sports Complex.

This year's event marks a relaunch of the existing Seongnam Festival, rebranded as the Seongnam TechArt Festival to reflect the city's identity as a hub of advanced technology.

The festival centers on the vision of Seongnam as a "global industrial and cultural city where technology and people coexist," with a focus on connecting innovative technology to civic enjoyment and industry exchange.

Pangyo will serve as the site for direct encounters with cutting-edge technology, while the Tancheon area will expand that experience into artistic inspiration and recreational fun. Programs spread across the city will draw residents into participation, turning all of Seongnam into one vast TechArt festival ground.

The festival opens at Pangyo Station Plaza.

On Nov. 23, the opening ceremony will feature a robot performance and concert under the banner "Opening Ceremony + Pangyo Tech Concert." Also running that day are "Conference SN26," surveying advanced technology and innovation trends; a "Tech Pop-up Zone" where visitors can try out products and technologies from Seongnam's leading tech companies; and a "Communication Lounge" where business leaders and residents can mingle freely and share ideas for next year's festival.

On Nov. 24, citizen-participation programs continue, including a session with TechArt influencers discussing the future of technology and art.

The Tancheon stream, one of the festival's central stages, will host programs designed to make advanced technology accessible and engaging. Highlights include a "Media Art Multi-Show" staged along the waterway and night sky, a "Media Canvas" displaying AI-generated video and media art on large LED screens, a "Digital Garden" where nature and digital technology interact with audiences, and a "Tech Playground" offering hands-on experiences with robots, AI and extended reality.

Alongside these, a range of programs — kayaking, a Tancheon market and global food stalls — will let residents enjoy the festival as part of everyday life.

The Tech Playground will offer robot experiences, extended reality and AI activities, and smart robot demonstrations. Rather than simply watching technology, visitors can engage physically through participatory content such as running and dancing alongside robots, as well as extended reality performances.

During the festival, the Seongnam Cube Art Museum at Seongnam Arts Center will host a convergence art exhibition exploring new intersections of technology and art. Featured shows include the 2026 National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Art Bank Collection Exhibition "Art in the Age of Vaporization" and the 2026 Seongnam Artist Spotlight 4, "Oh Sang-min: House of Sweets," offering visitors distinctive artistic experiences.

The festival energy extends into the city center. On Nov. 25, Seongnam Sports Complex will host "Music Festa" featuring singers Kim Won-jun and Lee Jae-hun, along with a youth drone soccer tournament, a reading quiz competition and other programs blending play, sports and education. Earlier, on Nov. 24, Seongnam City Hall will hold the second Seongnam City-KAIST AI Competition, the 17th Seongnam Youth Creative Science Festival and the fourth Seongnam Children's Drawing Contest.

Conductor Geum Nan-sae and the Seongnam City Symphony Orchestra will perform at the "Seongnam Music Festival" on Nov. 24 along the Tancheon. The annual drone light show, which has drawn enthusiastic crowds each year, will illuminate the night sky over the Tancheon on Nov. 24 and over Seongnam Sports Complex on Nov. 25, bringing the festival to a close.
