LS Electric announced Thursday it has signed a contract worth $133.41 million (181.2 billion won) to supply 345-kilovolt ultra-high-voltage transformers for a large-scale AI data center project in North America.

The project involves building AI data centers across North America along with the power generation and transmission infrastructure needed to supply them.

Under the contract, LS Electric will deliver the 345kV ultra-high-voltage transformers to nine substations on a rolling basis through 2030.

The deal comes as North America has seen a sharp rise in the construction of gigawatt-scale AI data centers to meet surging demand for large-scale AI computing infrastructure, driving up demand for power equipment across the full spectrum of transmission and distribution — including ultra-high-voltage transformers, switchboards and circuit breakers.

"Building on the supply references secured through this contract, we will continue to expand our order pipeline in the North American AI data center power infrastructure market," an LS Electric official said.
