President tells supporters to make their case 'with dignity'

President Lee Jae Myung responded directly Wednesday to a social media user who expressed concern that his recent surge in online activity might signal isolation. "The harder things get, the more distorted and intense the attacks become — and that is precisely when I must communicate directly with the people and lean on them," Lee said.

Lee made the remarks on his X account, describing social media as "a direct channel of communication between me and the public." He added that when "all the entrenched media interests came together to isolate me, distort the facts and attack me with falsehoods, it was social media that connected me with the people, spread the truth, kept me going and ultimately brought me to where I am today."

Lee said he would continue to draw closer to the public through every available avenue. "Whether it is press conferences, debates, field visits, Roosevelt-style fireside chats or live YouTube broadcasts, I will engage with the people more closely, listen and communicate," he said, adding that "politics is ultimately something the people do."

He stressed the importance of unmediated contact with citizens. "The harder things get, the more I must listen directly to the people's voices without any intermediary, report to them directly, appeal to them and communicate," Lee said. "With an even humbler posture and even greater intensity, I will heed the will of the people, respect that will, and devote every moment — sparing not a minute or a second — to faithfully carrying out the work entrusted to me, solely for the nation and its people."

Lee also directed a message at his supporters. "No matter what anyone says, do not use derogatory or harsh language that makes people cringe — making your case with dignity will win far more sympathy," he said. "Winning an argument is not the same as winning. Ultimately, it is the people who decide."

He then added, "Let us keep moving forward today as well, with the spirit of the old man who moved the mountain — making small, dignified steps toward a better world."
