The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education will recruit 149 public and private secondary school teachers — including health, library, counseling, nutrition and special education (secondary) teachers — for the 2027 school year.

The office announced the plan Wednesday on its official website, outlining the selection examination schedule for secondary school teacher candidates for the 2027 school year.

A total of 127 positions at public schools across 24 subjects will be filled, including 10 slots reserved for candidates with disabilities. By category, the openings break down as follows: 91 secondary subject teachers, 31 health, library, counseling and nutrition teachers, and five special education (secondary) teachers.

The recruitment figure reflects both the Ministry of Education's teacher supply plan and current vacancy data, representing an increase of 14 from last year. Of the 10 disability-reserved positions, seven are in secondary subject areas, two in non-teaching subject areas and one in special education (secondary).

Private schools will hire 22 teachers across 10 subjects, up 10 from last year. The first-round written examination for private school candidates will be administered by the Ulsan Office of Education under the same procedures as for public schools, while subsequent screening and final results will follow each school foundation's own schedule.

The examination schedule runs as follows: applications are accepted online through the public school staff recruitment system from Oct. 12 to Oct. 19 at 6 p.m.; the first-round written examination covering education theory and subject specializations takes place Nov. 28; first-round results are posted on the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education website Dec. 29; the second-round examination consists of a practical assessment on Jan. 14, 2027, a teaching ability evaluation on Jan. 20, 2027, and an in-depth aptitude interview on Jan. 21, 2027; and final results are announced on the office's website on Feb. 5, 2027.
