A total of 99.32 million shares from 34 listed companies will be released from mandatory lock-up registration on the domestic stock market next month.

According to the Korea Securities Depository (KSD), the shares subject to lock-up expiry in October span 34 companies and 99.32 million shares in total. By market, one Kospi-listed company accounts for 7.02 million shares and 33 Kosdaq-listed companies account for 92.3 million shares.

Mandatory lock-up registration is a system under which shares held by major shareholders and others are electronically registered with the KSD for a set period, barring disposal, in order to protect ordinary investors.

By reason for the lock-up, 35.51 million shares fall under the Regulations on Issuance and Disclosure of Securities, while 63.81 million shares are subject to the Kosdaq Market Listing Regulations.

On the Kospi, HJ Jungkong's 7,021,063 shares will be unlocked Oct. 28. The figure represents 8 percent of the company's total issued shares.

On the Kosdaq, Chaebi has the largest volume set for release at 15,313,800 shares — equivalent to 33 percent of its total issued shares — with the lock-up expiring Oct. 29.

On Oct. 25, 6,307,215 shares of Ppia will be unlocked. Ppia's release volume represents 62 percent of its total issued shares, the highest proportion among all companies covered this round.

In September, 229.48 million shares from 38 listed companies were released from mandatory lock-up registration.
