Actor Jung Ye-in, a member of K-pop group Lovelyz, will join the Netflix drama series "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" following the departure of Ha Young.

Netflix confirmed Tuesday that Jung would appear in the new season of the series.

"The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" follows a brilliant trauma surgeon who served on the battlefield and is assigned to a struggling trauma team at a hospital.

Season 1, released last year, drew a wide following both in South Korea and abroad. Filming for seasons 2 and 3 is set to begin simultaneously next month.

Ha Young had won fans with her portrayal of nurse Cheon Jang-mi in the series, but stepped down voluntarily after becoming embroiled in controversy over her great-great-grandfather's alleged collaboration with Japanese colonial authorities.

After Ha Young's exit, Jung auditioned multiple times before being cast in the role of Cheon Jang-mi.

Jung made her debut with Lovelyz in 2014 and gained popularity through hit songs including "Ah-Choo," "Destiny" and "Hi~."

She began her acting career in 2017 playing the younger version of Moon Chae-won's character in the tvN drama series "Criminal Minds," and has since appeared in the Tving and Watcha series "Inssa ga Doego Sipeun Nara" and the Dramabox series "Susukkki Chaebol Ttal."
