Users can open accounts and trade domestic and foreign shares without a separate brokerage app
New customers to receive investment contests and events from October
KB Securities announced Tuesday that it has launched a service on the OK Cashbag app enabling users to open brokerage accounts and trade domestic and foreign shares. The move broadens customer access by allowing users to put points accumulated through everyday spending toward investments.
KB Securities embedded its securities service in the "Today's Investment" menu of the OK Cashbag app, operated by SK Planet, on Sept. 21. Customers can open a KB Securities account, trade domestic and foreign shares, and make fractional share investments without installing a separate brokerage app. They can also convert OK Cashbag points into deposit funds in their KB Securities account for investment purposes.
The service builds on a business partnership the two companies signed in April, with KB Securities linking its financial services to OK Cashbag via an application programming interface. The launch follows an earlier integration with BC Card's Paybook app and is part of the company's broader push to expand embedded finance through lifestyle platforms. Embedded finance lets users access financial services directly within a non-financial platform, without switching to a separate financial app.
Starting in October, KB Securities plans to hold a "Lucky Investment Contest" for new customers along with a points-payback event tied to the amount spent on domestic share purchases.
KB Securities also announced Monday that the Korean Standards Association named it an outstanding company in the call center category of its KS-CQI assessment for the fifth consecutive year. The firm also won in the AI chatbot category for the second consecutive year. In May, it opened a customer service center in Jeonju to expand its support infrastructure.
"We will continue to expand investment touchpoints so that customers can use KB Securities' financial services more conveniently across various areas of their daily lives," said Son Hee-jae, executive vice president of KB Securities' digital business group.
