Walk-in participation available for the 2-kilometer stroll on Oct. 1; craft beer, food and live performances by Maronier and Gyeongseo run from 2:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
G-Valley's evening commute will transform into a festival of walking, beer and live music this Thursday.
Guro-gu will host the first "Guro G-Valley After-Work Festival" from an opening ceremony at 3 p.m. through 9 p.m. Thursday at the plaza in front of G-Tower and Daeryung Post Tower 8.
The festival is a newly designed event the district put together this year, reimagining the former Necktie Marathon as a combined walking and cultural program. The schedule and lineup were revamped so that G-Valley workers and residents can walk together on their way home and enjoy performances and food.
The festival kicks off with an approximately 2-kilometer walk. After the official opening ceremony, participants set out from Daeryung Post Tower 8 and follow the G-Valley Olle trail and a newly planted street-forest corridor. Street performances will be staged at both the departure and arrival points. Walk-in participation is welcome — no advance registration required.
A craft beer festival will also run at the venue, with five craft breweries offering a variety of beers alongside eight food trucks.
The stage program is equally varied. Broadcasters Jo Yeong-gu and Blanca will host, while singers Maronier and Gyeongseo will headline the celebration. The lineup also includes a range of cultural performances and an on-the-spot noraebang booth where audience members can take the mic.
A market selling household goods and sundries will be set up alongside experience booths offering tarot readings, caricature portraits and personal color consultations, all running until the event closes.
The district plans to conduct safety inspections of all structures before the event and station safety personnel throughout the venue.
Guro-gu District Mayor Jang In-hong said he hopes the festival will give G-Valley workers and residents a chance to walk together, enjoy a range of cultural programs and take a brief break from their daily routines. "As this is the inaugural event, we will do our utmost to ensure it is both safe and enjoyable," he said.
