Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho presided over a senior staff meeting at Sangyeok Office on Monday, urging officials to actively identify policy needs in the field and reflect them in city administration. "Policies that citizens need are found throughout the community," he said.

Choo particularly stressed the need to find tangible issues tied to the agenda of the emergency economic countermeasures meeting. "Please find the issues and policies that citizens genuinely care about and can feel in their daily lives, and turn them into concrete measures," he said.

He also repeatedly called on each department to maintain ongoing communication with relevant agencies and organizations to actively uncover policy demands that have accumulated on the ground.

Regarding affiliated agencies, Choo directed them to back "the vivid policy tasks and suggestions gathered from the field by affiliated agencies" with the city's systems and budget, and to join those agencies in on-site responses when necessary.

He also urged officials to use the national audit, set to begin Oct. 6, as an opportunity to have regional issues reflected in government policy and to find paths toward resolution.

"It is important to use the national audit as an occasion to fully inform the government and the National Assembly of local issues and to create momentum for resolving them," Choo said. "Through timely questions raised by Assembly members on the relevant standing committees, we must broaden public and media understanding and translate that into changes in policy and systems."
