Gyeongbuk Health University announced Monday that its smart logistics major within the AI Convergence College conducted a safety training and lifestyle safety field trip at the National Land Safety Education Institute in Gimcheon, with current students, adult learners and students enrolled in the advanced specialization course in smart logistics all taking part.

The program was designed to help students understand workplace hazards and learn how to prevent accidents and respond to emergencies. Its broader aim is to develop practice-ready professionals who can work safely on the job after graduation and carry out operations and management duties in the logistics field.

A smart logistics center is a space where workers, various logistics equipment and transport machinery operate together across the full cycle of receiving, storing, picking, packing and shipping goods.

Students used the safety experience facilities at the National Land Safety Education Institute to simulate hazardous situations that can arise in industrial workplaces and in everyday life, learning accident-prevention measures and how to respond to different types of emergencies.

Bae Dae-seong, dean of the AI Convergence College, said the school would continue to expand hands-on, field-centered education "so that students, once they enter the logistics workforce after graduation, can grow into logistics professionals who understand safety — and ultimately into site managers and middle managers who can take full responsibility for it."

Gyeongbuk Health University President Lee Eun-jik said the competencies required of a smart logistics expert go beyond the ability to run operations quickly and efficiently. "The ability to identify potential hazards in a corporate workplace before they occur, and to manage people and facilities safely, is equally important as a core job skill," he said.
