Mungyeong city in North Gyeongsang Province held a policy meeting Monday with North Gyeongsang Governor Lee Cheol-woo at the provincial government office.

Mungyeong Mayor Kim Hak-hong, provincial lawmakers, department heads and other officials attended the meeting, where they requested provincial budget support for key projects under the city's ninth elected-term agenda.

Mayor Kim briefed Governor Lee on the need to advance several projects requiring central government funding, including construction of a city gas supply pipeline, the building of the Mungyeong General Indoor Gymnasium, and comprehensive flood-damage mitigation work in the Dalji district.

The city also requested provincial funding for a range of other initiatives — supporting emergency medical services in underserved areas, modernizing facilities at Jeomchon Traditional Market, improving drainage in the Hogye district, and restoring a water intake weir in Naehwa-ri, Sanbuk-myeon.

"We will strengthen communication with higher-level authorities to secure more national and provincial funding and push for policy improvements for the development of Mungyeong," Mayor Kim said.

Governor Lee said the projects proposed by Mungyeong were directly tied to improving residents' quality of life and pledged the province's active support in reviewing them and helping secure the necessary funding.

Mayor Kim added that the city would do its utmost to secure greater national and provincial funding and achieve policy improvements through close coordination with higher-level authorities.
