Actor Shim Eun-kyung has spoken out about reports of her involvement in a Japanese film centered on the Hiroshima atomic bombing, following a similar statement by singer Woodz.

Shim's representatives said Monday that she had received an offer to appear in the project but turned it down.

Earlier, Shim had been reported as a cast member of "Tamako," a South Korea-Japan co-production. The film is said to follow a Japanese boy who loses his parents in the 1945 Hiroshima atomic bombing and later travels to Korea with a Zainichi Korean, where he experiences the Korean War.

Both Shim and Woodz (real name Jo Seung-yeon) had been named as cast members, but representatives for both said they had already declined the project, drawing a line under the reports.

Woodz said in a live broadcast Sunday that he had become aware of the film's content after receiving the script and informed his agency. "We turned it down, but the news came out in the meantime," he said.
