Broadcaster Seo Dong-ju has shared a story of being betrayed by a close friend during her time studying abroad.

A video titled "Seo Dong-ju, who didn't even know her friend had been stealing from her" was posted Sunday on Seo's YouTube channel.

In the video, Seo recalled her years studying in the United States while touring her mother Seo Jeong-hee's home.

"A friend who lived in the same dormitory back in high school stole a lot of my things," Seo said. "But I had no idea she was stealing from me. She would just come over to hang out, and if I couldn't find a piece of clothing, I'd just think I'd put it somewhere and not bother looking for it."

It was Seo Jeong-hee's sharp eye that eventually exposed the theft. "My mom came for my graduation, and she started asking, 'Where are those pants you had? The ones we bought back then?' — and not a single one was there," Seo said. "My mom said, 'There is no way this many things could just be gone,' so we reported it to a teacher."

"We later found out that friend had been stealing from me the whole time," Seo said. "When her bags were opened before she shipped them back to her hometown, they were packed with my clothes. I did not know much about luxury brands at the time, but it turned out they were designer items — Prada pants and the like. She had taken all of them."

When Seo Jeong-hee said she still remembered how upset she had been, Seo added, "She was such a close friend and I had always been so good to her. If my mom had not brought it up, I still would not know to this day. That is how sharp my mom is — and how oblivious I am."
