16 years without a medal at the Asian Games

South Korea's men's marathon team came away empty-handed at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Park Min-ho of the Armed Forces Athletic Corps finished the 42.195-kilometer full course in 2 hours, 15 minutes and 35 seconds on the Nagoya road course Saturday, placing eighth among 19 competitors.

Park ran near the front of the pack through the 15-kilometer mark before falling back around the 20-kilometer point.

Kim Hong-rok of Korea Electric Power Corporation finished 10th in 2:18:27.

Yamashita Ichitaka of Japan took gold in 2:10:49, Sawan Barwal of India claimed silver in 2:11:37, and Peng Feiyu of China won bronze in 2:12:13.

Han Il-ryong of North Korea, who won silver at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, finished fourth in 2:12:21.

The last time South Korea's men's marathon won an Asian Games medal was at the 2010 Guangzhou Games, when Ji Young-jun took gold.
