Yeungnam University of Science and Technology in Daegu held its "2026 Academic Year President's Talk Concert" for all enrolled students from Sept. 7 to Tuesday.

To avoid disrupting class schedules, the event was held during lunch breaks and divided into seven groups.

President Lee Jae-yong listened closely to students' concerns spanning academic and practical training, certification preparation, career planning and job-search challenges, as well as broader campus life issues including classroom and lab conditions, on-campus amenities, student welfare and extracurricular programs.

Students called for practical support tailored to each department's curriculum and major characteristics, and offered a range of suggestions to improve campus life — among them better learning environments and student facilities, expanded career and employment programs, and stronger field-based practical training.

Students in the nursing and Park Seung-cheol Hair departments particularly asked for expanded certification workshops suited to their fields to boost their professional competencies and job market competitiveness.

After hearing the requests, Lee immediately directed the relevant departments to closely review the need for certification workshops and assess student demand.

The Student Welfare Office plans to work with the departments concerned to identify the certifications students need for their majors and careers, and to examine in detail how to establish and run the workshops, including scheduling and the scope of support.

"Going forward, I will continue to meet directly with students, listen to their candid voices, and provide open communication and student-centered support so they can enjoy a fulfilling university life and realize their dreams and goals," Lee said.
