The Yeongcheon City Council in North Gyeongsang Province visited local social welfare facilities Tuesday to deliver care packages and encourage staff, then headed to Yeongcheon Public Market to take part in a traditional market shopping event ahead of the chuseok holiday.

The event was organized to share warmth with vulnerable residents before the holiday and to inject vitality into the traditional market as part of efforts to boost the local economy.

Council members and staff visited the Yeongcheon Community Welfare Center, Nazareth House and Maya Mental Health Convalescent Hospital, delivering care packages that included tissue paper, ramyun, detergent and diapers.

They then stopped by Yeongcheon Public Market, where they purchased goods for the chuseok holiday and spent time talking with local merchants.

"The Yeongcheon City Council will continue to listen to the voices of people on the ground, practice sharing and mutual growth, and work to bring energy to the local economy," council Speaker Ha Gi-tae said.
