HS Hwasung has won a contract to expand the faculty research building and cancer center at Yongin Severance Hospital in Gyeonggi Province.

The total contract value is 37.39 billion won ($27.5 million), HS Hwasung said Wednesday. The expansion will add floors one through nine above ground to the faculty research building and cancer center, with completion scheduled for February 2028.

Construction is set to begin next month and run for approximately 16 months through February 2028.

HS Hwasung has been broadening its business beyond its core housing and civil engineering operations into the medical facility sector. The company previously secured contracts to build a new hospital building at Daegu Catholic University's Chilgok Catholic Hospital and to expand the parking facility at Asan Medical Center.

"Drawing on the medical facility construction experience we have built up over the years, we will complete the new medical and research space at Yongin Severance Hospital without a hitch," said Jung Seung-woo, head of HS Hwasung's architectural estimation team.
