Actor Im Hyun-sik has opened up about managing his finances in retirement, revealing that his monthly expenses once reached 10 million won ($7,350).

A video titled "Meeting Im Hyun-sik after a long time" was posted Wednesday on Park Won-sook's YouTube channel.

In the video, Park Won-sook met with Im, who had recently undergone surgery, and said, "I thought you were sick, but I guess the surgery went well."

Im responded with his trademark wit, saying, "They removed a polyp. They told me they vacuumed out my large intestine."

Im then turned to the subject of managing his assets in old age. "Like all old people, I really need to get serious about managing money," he said. "Things need to be sorted out with the kids, and I think I need to go through that kind of process."

He added that he needed to "get the traffic sorted out," saying he had initially thought simply that he would spend everything he had, but had since come to feel he should hold a family meeting and tell his children to manage things themselves.

When Park said, "You haven't had that meeting yet? It's too late," Im replied, "I need to make a decision now."

Im also mentioned the burden of his expenses. "Sometimes the trees at my house alone have cost me 10 million won in a single month," he said. "And it's not like that generates any income at all."

Park sympathized, saying, "As you get older, real estate becomes a burden, and everything you've built up becomes a burden too."
