Korea Electric Power said Wednesday it has activated an emergency operations system to ensure stable power supply throughout the Chuseok holiday period.

The utility will deploy more than 3,000 emergency personnel daily during the holiday, working alongside partner companies. Should equipment failures occur at apartments or other customer facilities, crews will provide round-the-clock emergency support using backup generators, mobile transformers and temporary supply equipment.

Korea Electric designated a special inspection period running from Sept. 10 through Wednesday to intensively manage key facilities nationwide ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

The company reinforced 4,421 distribution lines fatigued by the summer heat wave and 4,468 overloaded service lines, and upgraded power supply equipment at 2,029 traditional markets across the country.

In addition, crews conducted gas leak inspections and thermal imaging diagnostics at 452 transmission and substation facilities connected to renewable energy hubs and power plants. Fire safety systems and vulnerable equipment at 68 substations and 140 linked transmission lines located in urban multi-use facilities were also inspected.
