Residents can apply directly for needed data through public data request system
Yeoncheon-gun is promoting a public data request system that allows residents to apply directly for data they need, urging active participation through the "Open Administration > Information Disclosure > Public Data" section of the county's official website.
The system operates nationwide under the Act on Promotion of the Provision and Use of Public Data. Anyone who cannot find the data they need on the Public Data Portal (data.go.kr) can easily submit a request for its release.
The county said Wednesday the system has already produced tangible results, with data closely tied to residents' daily lives — including local tax records and statistics on illegal parking reports and fines — successfully released through the process. Officials said the cases show that the system is not a mere formality but an effective administrative channel that leads to actual data disclosure.
"It is difficult for government agencies to anticipate in advance all the data residents may need," said Park Gyeong-u, head of the Media Content Division. "Whether you are a resident, a researcher or a business, please do not hesitate to submit a request through the county website if there is data you need."
"We will review all submitted requests in good faith and do our best to ensure they lead to actual data releases wherever possible," Park added.
