Yeongjong-gu in Incheon has launched a monthly rent support program for young residents.
The district announced Tuesday it will roll out its "2026 Youth Monthly Rent Support Project," offering eligible young residents up to 4.8 million won ($3,470) in rental assistance over two years.
Those selected will receive up to 200,000 won per month for a maximum of 24 months.
To eliminate coverage gaps across age groups, the district has set up a two-track support system. One track, run by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, targets residents aged 19 to 34, while the other — Incheon's own youth rent support program — is administered by the city and covers those aged 35 to 39.
The district accepted applications from March through May, receiving a total of 1,388 submissions — 1,348 under the ministry program and 40 under the city program. Applicants are currently undergoing a rigorous eligibility review of their income and assets.
Those who pass the review will begin receiving payments in September.
"We hope this support program will serve as a solid foundation for young people as they prepare for their futures," District Mayor Son Hwa-jeong said.
