Girls' Generation member Sunny has revealed that her older sister has hearing loss in one ear.

On Monday's episode of KBS2's "Baesong Wassong," Lee Seung-cheol, Tak Jae-hoon and Sunny appeared on the show, which features celebrities delivering song dedications to people with special stories.

The three met a married couple, both with hearing disabilities, who have been together for three years. The husband, a 33-year-old man born with hearing loss, requested a song for his mother, who had repeatedly traveled with him from Geoje to Busan for treatment.

He read aloud a letter he had written to his mother. "When I was diagnosed with hearing loss, I truly didn't understand how much you gave up to raise me," he said.

"You started taking me from Geoje to Busan for treatment when I was about three years old. When I think about how old you were then, you were only 28," he said, adding, "You were younger than I am now — it must have been so hard."

His wife also has hearing loss. "Babies usually start babbling around their first birthday, but I apparently wasn't speaking even by my second," she said. "My parents got worried and took me to the hospital, where they found out I had hearing loss."

Hearing their story, Sunny opened up about her own family. "My older sister actually can't hear in one ear either," she said. "After her surgery, it took a long time before she could hear — just like you described."
