Sinheung E&G and Zland, two companies that helped transform a former limestone quarry into the national tourism destination Mureung Byeolyucheonji alongside Donghae, have donated 6 million won ($4,340) to the city through the hometown love fund program.
Donghae Mayor Lee Jeong-hak welcomed Lee Young-gi, chief executive of Sinheung E&G, and Shin Gwang-hee, chief executive of Zland, when the two visited Monday to present the donation.
The two executives said they joined forces to share a warm holiday with local residents in the spirit of chuseok.
Donghae plans to use the funds to support vulnerable residents and boost community revitalization projects.
"I sincerely thank everyone who has practiced this meaningful act of sharing for those in need," Mayor Lee said. "We will take careful steps to ensure all residents enjoy a prosperous and safe holiday."
