Semiconductor inspection equipment maker secures A rating in technology evaluation; Samsung Securities to lead listing
'Aim to grow into global semiconductor inspection equipment company'
MIT, a maker of semiconductor inspection and measurement equipment, said Monday it submitted a preliminary listing application to Korea Exchange to pursue a Kosdaq listing. Samsung Securities is serving as the lead underwriter.
MIT received an A rating in a technology evaluation conducted in July by a specialized assessment agency designated by Korea Exchange. The company will now formally advance its Kosdaq listing process under the technology-exception track.
Founded in 2017, MIT develops and supplies automated ultrasonic inspection equipment that detects internal defects in wafers, chips and packages. As the semiconductor industry moves rapidly toward higher performance, greater integration and stacked chip architectures, ensuring bonding quality across chip-to-chip, wafer-to-wafer, and package-to-substrate interfaces has become increasingly critical.
To address these market shifts, MIT developed multi-probe technology that drives multiple ultrasonic probes simultaneously, boosting inspection speed and throughput. The company has also built capabilities in deep learning-based automatic defect classification, real-time warpage correction and non-immersion scanning — a technique that keeps water from coming into direct contact with wafer surfaces.
Its equipment is deployed across front-end and back-end semiconductor manufacturing lines at advanced and power semiconductor makers in South Korea and abroad.
MIT posted sales of 14.9 billion won ($10.8 million) and operating profit of 1.78 billion won last year. To keep pace with growing orders, the company relocated its headquarters to Songdo, Incheon in March last year and expanded its production capacity. It is also conducting equipment evaluations, technology verification and order-acquisition activities targeting new domestic and overseas customers.
"We will proceed with the listing process without disruption, and after the Kosdaq listing, we will continue to strengthen our technological competitiveness and expand our customer base at home and abroad to grow into a global semiconductor inspection equipment company," Chief Executive Choi Jong-myeong said.
