North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has called for stronger support from the defense industry to reorganize and modernize the country's artillery forces.

According to Yonhap, KCNA said Kim visited multiple key munitions factories from Wednesday through Friday, where he was briefed on production conditions. "Our artillery must be equipped with the most concentrated, most destructive, mass-scale and multi-directional strike capability, and must responsibly fulfill the dual missions of deterrence and warfighting," he said.

Kim said that through "irresistible force" already in North Korea's possession or soon to be acquired, "the enemy's military systems will gradually be worn down and rendered useless." He added that munitions factories at all levels under the Second Economic Committee must "take on a greater share" in realizing the party's strategic goal of building the most powerful military.

He set out three policy tasks, KCNA said: raising the level of AI integration in offensive and defensive weapons systems, upgrading artillery weapons with armor and automation, and improving production conditions and environments at munitions factories.

Kim said the significance of output from key munitions factories lies not in increased production itself, but in the fact that it is "a product of the will and effort of the working class to defend our sovereign security," adding that "this constitutes a great contribution to the state."
