Yeongdeungpo-gu District Mayor Jo Yu-jin attended the opening of the 2nd Yeongdeungpo-gu Original Beer Festival on Friday evening at Yeongdeungpo Park, raising a toast to mark the occasion.

Yeongdeungpo Park — where South Korea's first brewery opened in 1933 — was awash in golden foam and laughter for the event.

Running through Saturday, the festival brings together 74 craft beers from 13 breweries alongside a wide variety of food. The lineup includes sets by bands Peppertones and Dick Punks, a district residents' singing competition final, and a DJ Beer Night.

"The word 'original' is not something you can throw around lightly, but I can say with confidence that the Yeongdeungpo beer festival is the real thing," Jo said. "I hope everyone enjoys a cold beer and great food and takes home many happy memories."
