Former baseball player Yang Jun-hyuk has opened up about the miscarriage suffered by his wife, who is 19 years his junior.

According to Newsen, the 757th episode of MBN's close-up documentary program "Teukjong Sesang," which aired Thursday, followed the daily life of Yang's family, who are living in Pohang for a business project.

Yang shared the story of how he fell in love with his wife, Park Hyun-sun. "Whenever I made a move, she would push me away — the age gap was just so big. That went on for about 10 years," he said.

Park recalled that dating him had never crossed her mind. "He was just one of many fans. We would exchange light greetings — 'How are you doing?' — and then one day I told him, 'Oppa, do you even know how old I am?' He said, 'Why haven't you gotten married yet?' so I shot back, 'Well, why haven't you?' And he said, 'If Hyun-sun married me, I'd treat her like a princess.' After about 10 years, it was the first time I said, 'Would you really?' and things just flowed from there into marriage," she said.

Yang handles the daily school drop-offs and pick-ups for his daughter on his own. His deep attachment to her stems from the fact that she was conceived through IVF when he was 55. "Without IVF, we might not have been able to have a child at all. At first, there were twins. But then one was lost. That makes Ijae's birth all the more precious," he said.
