A shark appeared at the beach of Bukgang Waterfront Park in Busan on Friday, prompting the Korea Coast Guard to respond.
According to the Busan Maritime Police Agency, a report came in at 8:57 a.m. Friday of a shark measuring 3 to 4 meters spotted at the waterfront park beach.
The shark approached close to a walking path used by the public.
Coast guard officers who responded to the report confirmed the shark's location and are working to guide it back out to sea.
The city of Busan sent an emergency disaster alert to residents, saying a shark had been reported in the waterway inside the waterfront park and urging those walking in the area and nearby residents to take precautions for their safety.
