Governor Park Wan-su leads delegation to Agibot production line in Shanghai
Province signs MOU with Tongcheng Travel, targets Chinese youth with '48-hour Gyeongnam' campaign
South Gyeongsang Province has toured a cutting-edge robotics hub in China as part of efforts to transform the region's core manufacturing industries.
Governor Park Wan-su led a provincial delegation Thursday to the Yangtze AI Robot Valley, a key robotics cluster in Shanghai. The delegation toured the production facilities of Agibot, a global leader in humanoid robotics, examining how physical AI is being integrated into manufacturing processes and how operations are managed on the factory floor.
Agibot ranks among the world's top companies by robot shipment volume, deploying humanoid and multi-joint robots across major production processes including logistics sorting, industrial transport, and loading and unloading.
The province plans to use the visit to accelerate one of its flagship policy goals: establishing a hub for demonstrating and expanding manufacturing AI. The plan calls for layering advanced robotic automation models onto the province's extensive industrial data infrastructure — built up across sectors including nuclear power, defense and aerospace — to drive an AI transformation across South Gyeongsang's manufacturing base.
"South Gyeongsang Province is a frontline base for next-generation manufacturing innovation, backed by solid foundational industries and a wealth of real-world data," Park said. "We will push ahead without wavering in building a manufacturing AI demonstration hub and lead the structural transformation of our industrial sector."
The delegation then traveled to Suzhou, where it signed an MOU on tourism promotion with Tongcheng Travel at the online travel platform company's headquarters. Tongcheng Travel has about 300 million monthly active users, with 70 percent of its primary user base in their 20s and 30s.
Starting in October, the province will launch a joint marketing campaign targeting young Chinese travelers under the banner "48-Hour Gyeongnam Escape," promoting South Gyeongsang-specific itineraries centered on coastal scenery, islands, festivals and local cuisine — with a focus on short getaways. The province plans to concentrate its online promotional efforts to draw more than 7,000 Chinese tourists to the region.
