'Open district office' operation runs Sept. 24–27 — below-ground floor play and experience spaces, first-floor lobby, parking lot and more open to all residents
2026 Chuseok comprehensive plan covers three areas: resident safety, livelihood stability and lifestyle convenience, minimizing inconvenience during the holiday period
Dongjak-gu will keep its district office open throughout the Chuseok holiday so residents can visit freely and enjoy the festive season, the district said.
The district will open the below-ground first-floor play and experience spaces, the first-floor lobby, the parking lot and other areas throughout the building.
The below-ground first floor will be set up as a traditional games and activities space for families. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., visitors can enjoy traditional games including yut nori (a board game played with wooden sticks), traditional top spinning, jegi chagi (a hacky-sack-style game), tuho (arrow-toss) and ddakji (a paper-flipping game), along with a retro arcade room featuring three gaming machines to add to the holiday atmosphere.
Existing below-ground first-floor facilities will also be available, including the Dongjak Star Slide (2–6 p.m.), a robot and AI experience zone (10 a.m.–6 p.m.), a play zone (10 a.m.–6 p.m.) and Dongjak Open Studio (11 a.m.–6 p.m.). All below-ground first-floor facilities will be closed on Chuseok Day itself.
The district office parking lot will be free throughout the holiday period to make visits more convenient for residents.
The first-floor lobby will also be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., providing a comfortable resting space for anyone visiting the building.
A 24-hour emergency operations center will run from 6 p.m. on Sept. 23 through 9 a.m. on Sept. 28, handling resident inquiries and complaints during the holiday. In the event of an emergency, the center will coordinate with dedicated response teams in each sector to take swift action.
The district is rolling out its "2026 Chuseok Comprehensive Plan," focusing on three areas — resident safety, livelihood stability and lifestyle convenience — to ensure uninterrupted services throughout the holiday.
On the resident safety front, the district will maintain a round-the-clock disaster and safety response system and establish an emergency medical framework to prevent gaps in healthcare, including lists of open clinics, hospitals and pharmacies, infectious disease surveillance, an emergency quarantine system and a medical information hotline.
A list of clinics, hospitals and pharmacies open during the holiday will be available on the Dongjak-gu district office website.
To support livelihoods, the district will issue 6 billion won ($4.43 million) worth of Dongjak Love gift certificates and hold traditional market holiday events to boost the local economy. Holiday support for vulnerable residents will include cash gifts and food packages.
For lifestyle convenience, 150 public parking lots with 3,858 spaces will be opened free of charge. Residents will be notified in advance of the suspension of garbage collection from Thursday through Saturday, and a special cleanup team will be deployed to help residents enjoy a comfortable and pleasant holiday.
Inquiries about the open district office during the Chuseok holiday may be directed to the district's Operations Support Division, while questions about the comprehensive Chuseok plan should be directed to the Planning and Budget Division.
