Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province took part in the "2026 Chuseok Gangnam-gu Direct Trade Market" held Wednesday at the Gangnam-gu district office parking lot in Seoul, promoting the city's agricultural and specialty products as well as its signature fall festivals to residents of the greater Seoul area.

The market drew 37 local governments and 59 farming households from across the country, operating 61 sales booths for agricultural, fishery, livestock and specialty products. Yeongju ran a sister-city promotional pavilion to showcase its local produce and upcoming festivals.

The Yeongju Livestock Cooperative and the Yeongju Agricultural Products Distribution Center represented the city, presenting Yeongju Hanwoo beef and Yeongju apples. Visitors who came ahead of the chuseok holiday showed strong interest, sampling the quality and taste of the city's signature farm products firsthand.

Yeongju Mayor Hwang Byeong-jik and Yeongju City Council Speaker Lee Sang-geun also attended the opening ceremony and toured the market floor, engaging with visitors and promoting the merits of Yeongju's agricultural and specialty products.

Mayor Hwang also used the occasion to promote the 2026 Yeongju Punggi Ginseng Festival, scheduled to run from Oct. 3 to Oct. 11.

The city also announced the Yeongju Apple Festival, set to be held at Cheongye Square in Seoul from Nov. 13 to Nov. 15, and introduced its online shopping mall for local produce, "Yeongju Jangnal."

"I hope this direct trade market becomes an opportunity for local farmers to expand their sales channels and for consumers to get closer to the high-quality agricultural products Yeongju has to offer," Council Speaker Lee said.

"It is especially meaningful to be able to showcase Yeongju's Hanwoo beef and apples right here in Gangnam-gu, our longtime sister city, and to promote the Punggi Ginseng Festival at the same time," Mayor Hwang said. "I hope the connections made at this market lead to trust in Yeongju's products, repeat purchases, and ultimately inspire people to visit Yeongju in person."
