Dongguk University WISE Campus held a "Chicken Day with Kyochon" event Tuesday on the Yongmaengno campus road.

Sponsored by Kyochon Food & Beverage, the event offered free chicken to the first 500 students to arrive, while the university provided 500 cans of beverages alongside.

The event grew out of a relationship with the Kyochon Scholarship Foundation, brokered by Choi Ae-hwa, chairperson of Daegu Obelisk and a donor to Dongguk University WISE Campus.

The Kyochon Scholarship Foundation had previously awarded 15 million won ($11,100) in scholarships to 15 students in 2025, and organized this year's event as a show of encouragement for students returning for the second semester.

Students who received Kyochon scholarships in 2025 attended as volunteers, helping distribute food and expressing gratitude to the sponsoring organization.

Seo Un-gyo, head of external affairs at Dongguk University WISE Campus, said the event was designed to energize students at the start of the second semester and encourage campus life. "We will continue to strengthen a virtuous cycle of support for students through ongoing collaboration with donors and sponsoring companies," he added.
